Runaway Bay is primarily a waterfront suburb, with most homes having canal access. The homes along the canal vary from large mansions to less imposing one-story, family-friendly pads.
The area is not only popular with boating and fishing enthusiasts as it is also located to major shopping centres, great restaurants and pretty parkland.
Runaway Bay Recreation
The Runaway Bar Centre is a local shopping centre with the main chain stores like Target, Best and Less and Big W, plus the major supermarkets, cafes, boutiques and specialty stores.
The centre is also home to the Runaway Bay Tavern, a modern setting for a tavern complete with a bistro, restauran, pub and sports bar, live music and gaming machines. Open late every night, the tav is a great place to catch up for some good food, drinks and a chat with friends and family.
There's also the Runaway Bay Marina nearby offering storage and a range of marine services to boat owners.
Sports Super Centre
A world-class sporting facility that was built as a training base for athletes from around the world competing in the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Some of the excellent grounds the sports performance centre boasts include track and field, hockey, gym, pools, football, group fitness, triathlon and beach volleyball facilities, as well as accommodation lodges for visiting athletes.
