Things to do in Broadbeach
With its wide, white sand, lifeguard patrolled beach and adjacent child friendly park, Kurrawa Beach and the Broadbeach foreshore should be the first stop on any holidaymaker's must do list. Another lovely daytime activity is a visit to Cascade Gardens. This oasis in the middle of Broadbeach is a family favourite for picnics and barbeques. Located next to the river, it has become a sanctuary for water birds and bats. The northern section of the park is home to the Korean War Memorial which has a series of 10 relief murals representing the different forces involved, the Korean peoples' struggle for freedom and those Missing in Action and Prisoners of War. Extending from Rotary Park in the centre of the Gardens is the Kokoda Memorial Walk which runs south to the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre. Walk through tropical rainforest, like our soldiers on the Kokoda Track and take note of the information plaques which are similar to those existing along the actual track.
And after the sun goes down and the kids are in bed the fun goes on. Walk across the road to the The Star Gold Coast (formerly Jupiters Casino). There are 8 restaurants, 5 bars and 24 hour gaming at over 70 tables and 1600 machines. Transcending the barriers of age, gender and culture, the Blues on Broadbeach festival is a free, non-ticketed event that takes over Broadbeach every year. Spanning four huge days in May, it has become one of Australia’s most iconic Blues festivals, attracting fans and artists from around the world. It is also the largest free music festival in Australia. Don't forget to visit the Art and Crafts market while you're there for a wide variety of locally made products.

Broadbeach offers clubbers a more grown up vibe than what you find in Surfers Paradise. Many of the clubs and bars here offer bottle service, private tables and full VIP packages. You'll want to make sure you're on the guest list at late night clubs like Love Nightlife and Platinum. On the other end of the spectrum, if you're after a quiet night out, the Broadbeach Tavern is the perfect place for catching up with friends over a drink.
