Tour the Scenic Rim
Queensland's Scenic Rim region covers an area exceeding 4000 square kilometres, tucked in behind the Gold Coast and south-west of Brisbane. Often passed over in favour of the more popularised areas of the Gold Coast, the Scenic Rim offers much to do and see, including a mix of fantastic natural mountainous and farmland scenery and great locations and facilities for outdoor pursuits.
While the population of the region is close to 40000, this is mainly distributed amongst small country towns and acreage properties. Agricultural and horticultural production, the equine industry and tourism comprise the major areas of industry. There is much to see in the area, from rolling green vistas of land, mountain ranges and some great National and Council Parks - nearly 30 000 hectares in fact!
Explore the Mountains
Mount Barney is located in Mount Barney National Park, which is also home to a number of other peaks, including Mounts Maroon, May, Lindesay, Ernest, Ballow and Clunie, covering a total land area of 17,659 hectares. The area was created by volcanic activity in the region about 26 million years ago, and is now listed as a Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area.
Soak up the Scenery in Beaudesert
Beaudesert is located in the centre of the Scenic Rim is is home to upward of 6000 people. It's long been the central meeting point for several surrounding farming communities including beef and timber production, dairy and horticulture. These days the Beaudesert region is also home to a new breed of residents - those from the city who have escaped to the country life and all it has to offer.
