On Saturday 19 October, the fifth annual Gold Coast Open House opens the doors of interesting and architecturally significant buildings and locations, inviting the public to take a behind the scenes look at places they may have only glimpsed from the street.
This year, there will be four walking tours, eight museums and 48 buildings across the city and for the first time, Gold Coast Open House ventures across the border to present a display of architect designed homes in Northern NSW.
Also on the program this year are heritage gems and sporting venues, cutting edge buildings and spaces, homes, schools, universities, museums, TV and radio stations, public utilities and workplaces that reflect our city’s unique architecture and urban design.
Pack your camera for Gold Coast Open House this year and take some pics along the way so you can enter the annual Focus on Architecture Photography competition. There are $1500 in prizes to be won, thanks to competition sponsor, Griffith University.
If you are passionate about your city, events, history, architecture and design, Gold Coast Open House is seeking general volunteers and photography volunteers to assist on the day of the event. Register your interest at goldcoastopenhouse.com.au/volunteer
The full program will be announced Tuesday 3 September and booking lines for places which require advanced bookings will open Friday 6 September.
