Event Description

Gold Coast, Australia, November 2012 ~ Promising to be a night filled with joyous music and celebration, The Coolangatta Christmas Concert will return this holiday season with a free outdoor music event scheduled at beachside Queen Elizabeth Park.
Taking place Sunday the 16th of December from 5.30pm – 7.00 pm, The Coolangatta Christmas Concert is a cherished tradition for families and music enthusiast alike thanks to its delightful energy and refreshing blend of talented musicians.

This year’s lineup includes Nadia Sunde, an international award-winning songwriter, children's author, music educator, entertainer, comedienne and mother of two. Nadia is passionate about creating quality musical experiences that inspire and connect people of all ages.

Vocalist Kacey Patrick will also lend her angelic tones to the evening’s proceedings. Kacey’s three-octave range is a rare instrument capable of expressing profound emotion, giving her the ability to create vocal soundscapes where her voice is both a melodic and percussive instrument. Kacey is best known for her work with The Saruzu Quartet and stringmansassy.

Michael Fix, who over the past 20 years has established himself as one of Australia's finest composers and guitarists, will also grace the stage. Michael has won numerous awards including three Golden Guitars, and performs regularly at festivals across Australia, Europe and Asia.

Then there’s the voluptuous bass of Paul Robert Burton. Paul has worked in Australia and Europe for many years with his band The Shuffle Kings and is in regular demand as a session musician with performers of high calibre, including Keith Urban, Jimmy Barnes, Graeme Connors, Ian Moss, Doc Neeson, and The Brewster Brothers.

The evening will also feature other great local acts including Champagne, Jason McGregor, and James the singing barista from Groove Cafe.

And, of course, this 90 minute extravaganza would not be complete without an appearance from everyone’s favourite red-suited Christmas concert star, Santa.

Connecting Southern Gold Coast Director of Events and Festivals, Louise Bezzina, said the event had enjoyed great popularity over the years, and felt this year’s talented performers would appealed to a broad cross section of the community.  “It’s really a show for everyone. Bring the whole family to enjoy the ambience of Coolangatta beachfront on dusk, with close proximity to a myriad of dining and entertainment options to enjoy pre or post concert.”

Proudly presented by Connecting Southern Gold Coast, Division 14 and The Southern Gold Coast Chamber of Commerce, The Coolangatta Christmas Concert is a free all ages event.
