Tropfest Short Film Festival 2012
19 February 2012
Tropfest is Australia’s most prestigious short film festival and one of its most iconic cultural events. It is also the largest short film festival in the world.
Surfers Paradise is the only place on the Gold Coast where you can live the excitement of Tropfest, the world’s largest short film festival. Each February, the global micro-movie phenomenon is beamed live to the big screen at Circle on Cavill from its home base at The Domain in Sydney.
Circle on Cavill replicates Tropfest’s groovy atmosphere with bean bags on the grass, a relaxed picnic blanket vibe and live music from Gold Coast bands in between the films. 16 finalist shorts from Australia’s best emerging filmmakers are platformed at the event and often feature appearances from established film and television stars.
Limited to just seven minutes in length, the films are masterclasses in efficient entertainment, ranging from snappy comedies to twist-ending thrillers and poignant tone pieces.
The 2012 Tropfest, the event’s 20th anniversary staging, will be simulcast to Circle on Cavill.
