Event Description
World music and club beats band Tijuana Cartel headlines the final Live at Bond concert for 2015, presented as part of Bond University’s Open Day.
As one of Australia’s favourite party bands and the corner stone of the ‘east meets west’ electronic scene, genre-defying Tijuana Cartel have emerged as one of the country’s most exciting live acts.
Bound together by their mutual love of instrumental, trippy and mind-expanding music, Paul George and Carey O’Sullivan are a truly formidable force. They started playing together in the 1990’s and epic Surfers Paradise venue, Swingin’ Safari, became the launch pad for Tijuana Cartel’s sound. Word quickly spread, with the band blazing their trail at festivals throughout Australia, Europe and the USA.
Their international exploits include residencies at Bali’s KuDeTa Bar, Beijing’s famous Loong Bar during the Olympic Games, as well as in Mumbai and Thailand.
It’s incredible to know that the Gold Coast has produced a band with massive international appeal. The secret of their success is how they turn a unique blend of flamenco, percussion, trumpet, house and electronic influences, positivity, and global rhythms into an exciting, infectious musical force. Quite simply, there isn’t another band doing what they do.
