Swingin' Safari is the Gold Coast Australia .com Surfers Paradise and Gold Coast restaurant of the year. It's the coolest, kitchest kitchen in town. The food is fantastic, the ambience is Surfers Paradise circa 1970 and the people are great.

Ever since the last crab was tossed in the pot, the little house on the highway just South of Surfers has been screaming' for some lovin'. Frustrated, a local group has stepped on a slice of history to give an old lady of the Gold Coast Restaurant venues a great time in the twilight of her life!

Born in the mid seventies as 'Bacchus' the first Wine Bar in Queensland she quickly evolved to become the legendary 'Crab Cooker' in the heady seventies and eighties. So what do you get in 2003 when you put a co-operative of local identities in a melting pot with the ghosts of past generation party animals, Restaurateurs and raconteurs?

Totally different, slightly bohemian, charismatic, 'grown up' a feel that's just on the stylish side of tacky, a retro-chic antithesis of that minimalists modern look. Recall the glamour and kitsch glitz of the Golden Days of the Golden Coast in the Bar, the Parlour, the Dining Room, and the Library or on the Verandah and Patio. The Emporium will offer interesting, unique design pieces — often vintage — which are found, made constructed, renovated, re-furbished to highlight their individual beauty and character.
